Consultation, Examination, X-rays, Report of Findings:

Before we figure out what we can do for you we must figure out what is causing your symptoms and if chiropractic care can help.

At Cornerstone Chiropractic, a consultation with the doctor is always free. If an examination is recommended, X-rays will be obtained to eliminate any guesswork. The doctor will review your exam and X-ray findings with you and recommend the proper plan of action.

Chiropractic Care:

Chiropractic care is nervous system care. Our nervous system (the brain, spinal cord, and nerves) control every cell, organ, function, sensation, and overall health of our bodies. When the nervous system encounters interference our body encounters disease as a result. Disease can manifest itself as fatigue, pain, sleep loss, headaches, allergies, depression, hyperactivity, or any number of presentations we call symptoms.

A doctor of Chiropractic is trained to locate these nervous system interferences at their spinal source. When the vertebrae which make up your spine become fixated and lose proper motion, the structures of that fixated segment also malfunction. This includes the joints, ligaments, muscles, arteries, veins, and most importantly, the spinal cord and spinal nerves. The chiropractic adjustment restores motion to the fixated segment which allows proper nervous system function.

At Cornerstone Chiropractic this adjustment may be accomplished using one of several techniques that Dr. Whitemarsh is trained in. He will review your condition and discuss your care with you. Together, you will decide which technique is best for you. While each technique differs in force and protocol, all of them are effective in restoring motion to fixated spinal joints.

Therapeutic Exercise:

Whether you are recovering from an auto accident, personal injury, preventing future spinal decay, or just seeking wellness, your spinal care should include exercise. It is crucial in encouraging spinal motion. Many important structures pertaining to spinal wellness will benefit from exercise. Your muscles, joints, tendons, and ligaments are all in need of proper motion.

Your core muscles play a crucial role in maintaining balance in your spine. If any group of core muscles needs to work more than the others, imbalance is the result, and back pain and discomfort follow. So much chronic back pain can be relieved just by working these core muscles and balancing them so that they are all maintaining equally.

In addition to core muscle strengthening, the muscles that allow your spine to move through the normal ranges of motion must be maintained. When your spine loses normal range of motion, it will not miraculously get it back. You will need to keep these tissues strong and supportive in order to provide your neck and low back with continual proper motion.

Massage Therapy:

The benefits of massage therapy stand alone. But in our office, we combine the therapeutic soft tisse relief with your chiropractic treatments. Doing this allows for more rapid healing of your injuries, improved range of motion, and more effective chiropractic treatments.

joints will almost never lock up without affecting the muscles and muscles will almost never tense up without affecting your joints. If you truly wish to heal your body and remain healthy for years to come through complete rehabilitation, combining therapeutic massage and your other treatments will help you.

Rehabilitative Therapies:

It is crucial that the relief you receive from your visits to our office last as long as you can stay healthy. All of the treatment in the world will do you no good if we don't teach you the regular steps you will need to take to make sure your injury is not a permanent issue.

At Cornerstone Chiropractic we will use intersegmental traction, neuromuscular re-education, postural correction, yoga, aromatherapy, and other lifestyle changes to allow your body to stay healthy for as long as you have it.

Graston Technique:

This Technique uses specially designed stainless steel instruments to detect and treat areas exhibiting scar tissue or chronic inflammation. Clinicians use the instruments with varying shapes to comb over and "catch" on fibrotic tissue, which immediately identifies areas of restriction. Once the tissue has been identified, the instruments break up scar tissue so the body can absorb it.

The Technique reduces pain and increases range of motion. It also:

  • Improves diagnostic treatment
  • Increases patient satisfaction by achieving notably better outcomes
  • Speeds rehabilitation and recovery
  • Reduces the need for anti-inflammatory medication
  • Allows the patient to continue to engage in everyday activities.

The instruments are not meant to replace a clinician's hands, but to complement them. More than 16,000 clinicians, 1,650 outpatient facilities, 55 industrial sites and 250 professional and amateur sports organizations worldwide offer not only the original, but the finest instrument-assisted soft tissue treatment technology available. GT is part of the curriculum at 49 respected colleges and universities. Trainers and clinicians at these organizations are treating elite athletes, patients and employees every day to get them injury free to function at the highest level.

The Graston Technique® instruments, while enhancing the clinician's ability to detect fascial adhesions and restrictions, have been clinically proven to achieve quicker and better outcomes in treating both acute and chronic conditions, including:

  • Achilles Tendinitis/osis (ankle pain)
  • Carpal Tunnel Syndrome (wrist pain)
  • Cervical Sprain/Strain (neck pain)
